Flight
2 hrs from Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Ashville; 2.5 hrs from Atlanta, and some of the prettiest country you'll drive through.
House Or Rental
Almost all of the accommodations in the immediate area are AirBNB or VRBO short term rentals. The nearest hotels are in Andrews (20 minutes), Franklin (40 minutes) or Bryson City (50 minutes). The venue has a great list of lodging in the area including most of the short term rentals. https://nantahalaweddings.com/lodging-lake-nantahala-wedding/ If you are planning on a rental home, we highly suggest reserving one as soon as possible for the most choices to fit your family preference. When looking at these properties take note of any mentions of vehicle accessibility and how far off the road they are. While few would require a true 4wd vehicle, more than a handful wouldn't be great for a low to the ground sports car.
Rental Car
All roads and the parking for the venue are easily accessed with any vehicle. If you are going to be in a short term rental house off the beaten path or just generally exploring the activities in the region, we recommend renting an SUV. Alternatively, if you are driving in from Knoxville, the scenic route includes "The Tail of the Dragon" which is an 11-mile stretch of road in the Great Smoky Mountains, famous for its 318 curves. This was fun in an SUV but would be more fun in something sporty.
Travel Note
Cell reception once you are in the Nantahala Nation Forest is spotty at best, and for some stretches completely non-existent. Highly recommend that you download your route in Google Maps before making the trip.
