We’re so excited to see all of you on October 4th! As most of you know, we are not a traditional wedding couple. Jenny is a cis woman and uses she/her pronouns; Matt is a nonbinary trans person and uses they/them pronouns. Therefore, Matt is not a man, and should not be referred to as the groom. Here are some alternative titles for Matt you can try: - Bride (preferred!) - Matt - Little stinker - That person over there - The one with the good hair And when referring to Matt & Jenny together, you can say: - The newlyweds - The new couple - The brides It’s very important to both of us that Matt is correctly gendered on our wedding day. Being misgendered is an uncomfortable and hurtful experience, and we don’t want that to interrupt a day filled with so much joy and excitement. So please, practice your pronouns and get in the gender-affirming headspace before October 4th. One last thing: Mistakes happen! Despite your best intentions, you may screw up pronouns on the day. If you do, don’t panic—just correct yourself & move on. We love you all, and know mistakes like this are not intentional or malicious.
