We're getting married!

Matt says our first date was when we went to a movie together at the end of March. It wasn't planned, so I only halfway count it; we don't even remember what day it was! I say our first date was April 6th when he asked me to see a Bats game. It was planned, clearly conveyed it was going to be a date, and we both remember all the details. We even went back the next year as a tradition/anniversary celebration. We don't know which day to celebrate, so we just pick one, haha!

I had been planning on proposing for a long time, but a delay on the ring shipment, then a global pandemic had other plans. That didn't stop me! I decided to go ahead and do it. I facetimed her parents (again, global pandemic, quarantine, 2020.) Her mom took off with the idea and told me I should do it the next weekend while we were over for dinner. I told her my idea to do it at the small pond next to their house, but she went above and beyond! She walked across the street and found a small lake. She made props and scouted out the perfect area for me! Her mom's birthday came and after dinner her mom and I were very insistent we take Finley for a walk across the street. We started walking and her mom instantly took the leash. When we got there she took him down one path while I led Ashlyn closer to the lake. We started walking alone and I stopped. Speechless I pulled out the ring and knelt. Ashlyn was surprised but loved it! A beautiful start to our life together!
