How much should we budget per person in Costa Rica?

Answer

Airfare and Lodging: $1,500 minimum -Airfare depends on who you fly with Jetblue seems to be less expensive than Delta. -Lodging can be as expensive or as cost-effective as you would like. This also depends on the length of stay, and # of people and of course the hotel or house. Other Costs: Transportation to and from the airport (3 hours for one way): $180 for up to 8, Maybe more- If you are staying in a hotel, check to see if they have transportation services available. Yes, it will be hot and humid as Costa Rica is a tropical environment. Here are a few tips! -Drink plenty of water! -Sunscreen is a must, the sun is intense during the day! -Bring plenty of changes of clothes. There is a good chance laundry services will available where ever you stay, but be prepared with extra changes of underwear and socks at the very least!

Question

What is the currency?

Answer

Currency is the Colón and roughly 560 colones are equal to the US Dollar. Some places do take US currency, but to be safe it is recommended to have some cash in colones for tipping and small purchases. In some places when you pay by credit card you will have the option of paying in US dollars or the Colones.
