We met when mutual friends introduced us when we were out dancing one August night. Though we were strangers, we had a blast dancing the night away. Almost exactly a year later, we realized we were falling for each other. We went out on our first date at the beach, and the rest is history!
As soon as we started dating, we realized that we shared a love of hiking, skiing, and the outdoors in general. Together we racked up countless hikes and ski trips under our belt, so the mountains have always been a special place to us. In March 2017, we went on our 3rd annual ski trip with my family, this year to Mt. Hood in Oregon. I noticed Matt had been stressing about finding the "perfect" snowshoe hike to do while we were there, and I thought nothing of it. "Just pick one, it'll be fun no matter what", I told him. He decided we would hike to Umbrella Falls on Mt. Hood, and conspired with my parents to hide champagne and flutes in their backpacks for the hike. When we came to Umbrella Falls, I noticed everyone had fallen back a bit, so I started taking selfies with the waterfall. When everyone caught up, they insisted of taking pictures of me and Matt in front of the falls. After they snapped a picture of us, he dropped to one knee and popped the question. Of course it was followed up by popping the champagne for a toast with my family. I could not have thought of a more perfect, special and unique way to propose than that, and I give him MAJOR props for it!
