How We Met

We met on a dating app after Juliana recently moved to Florida (and no mom, not Match.com) . When Matt found out Juliana liked wine, he asked to go to one of her favorite spots, The Wine Room in Delray Beach. Since Juliana didn't have a car, Matt would drive 45 minutes to come visit her. We would grab a smoothie or walk along the beach where we would talk for hours. Three weeks after our first date, it was Juliana's birthday. After coming back from a solo walk on the beach, she was shocked to find a beautiful flower bouquet with a handwritten poem. An arrangement so beautiful, only Kathy's florist could make it. After about a month, we both called each other to share some exciting news- that we each put an offer in on a house! Neither one of us knew the other was house hunting. Without knowing, we bought houses 1 mile apart. We put an offer in on the same day, closed on the same day, moved in on the same day. We spent the next several months cycling along the A1A, taking tennis lessons, grabbing way too many juices, and spending every minute we could together. Even before we dated, Juliana trusted Matt. She gave him a key to her place so he could check up on it when she was out of town. She would always come back to a new surprise (usually fresh flowers and a handwritten poem). After 9 months of being best friends, we started dating and 9 months later we were engaged. 9 must be our lucky number, because we will have been engaged for 9 months by the time we tie the knot! The Proposal

Juliana was supposed to surprise Matt for his birthday. She spent weeks planning the perfect stay-cation. She booked their favorite hotel, The Ritz Carlton in Fort Lauderdale. She also booked a whole day of activities, starting with reflexology and ending with a sushi restaurant- none of which Matt knew about. We checked into the hotel and it started raining, so we watched some TV in bed. We lost track of time and rushed to get ready for our reservation, leaving the hotel room a complete mess. After coming back from dinner, Juliana opened the hotel door and noticed some red rose petals on the ground. The first thought that ran through her head was that we somehow were in the wrong room. Once she kept walking in, she turned the corner and saw over 700+ photos of us laid out on the bed, a dozen red roses, a bottle of J rosé, and a poem. While reading the poem, Matt got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She was completely shocked because here she thought she was surprising him, but somehow he figured out how to sabotage her surprise and embed his own. A big shout out to Matt’s mother, Kathy, who snuck into our messy hotel room while we were at dinner and transformed it into a dream. Check out the ‘gallery’ page to see photos of the room.
