FAQs

Question

What is the attire?

Answer

Semi-formal. Please dress comfortably and take Vermont fall weather into account. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside (weather permitting). Heels may be challenging on the grass.

Question

When should I book my hotel room?

Answer

We recommend booking as soon as possible. It will be leaf peeper season in Vermont and lodging will fill up quickly!

Question

Will there be adult beverages?

Answer

Yes, there will be an open bar (woot, woot) with a wide variety of adult beverages.

Question

What is the weather like in Vermont in October?

Answer

It varies, but plan for a brisk evening. The wedding ceremony and dinner will take place in a tent with heaters but we recommend bringing layers.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

There are many options for lodging in the area. There are a few hotels in the area but if that is not your thing there are a plethora of B&Bs and quaint Inns. Please let us know if you will need transportation to/from the venue and we will add your lodging to the shuttle list.

Question

How will I get to the wedding from the hotel?

Answer

We will provide a shuttle to/from the venue for those staying within 5 minutes of Waitsfield, VT or in Waterbury, VT. Please let us know where you are staying so we can add it to the shuttle list.

Question

What time will the reception end?

Answer

Local ordinance requires us to end amplified music by 10pm. However, there will be a fire and guests are welcome to stay longer at the farm. The bar will close at 10pm and guests may bring their own beverages to enjoy around the fire after that time.

Question

Will I need to walk to the ceremony/reception?

Answer

Yes, the ceremony will be a short walk from the parking lot. Our coordinator, Helen, will be there to guide you. If you have difficulty walking, we can arrange for you to be driven to and from the ceremony site. Please let us know by e-mailing colleen.gall@mac.com.

Question

What time is the ceremony and how long will it last?

Answer

We will plan to start the ceremony at 4pm sharp. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes ahead as you will need some time to walk to the ceremony site. The ceremony will last about 30 minutes and will be directly followed by cocktail hour, which is a short walk from the ceremony site.

Question

Where will the ceremony be if it rains?

Answer

Lareau Farm has thought of everything and they will have an alternative site available in the event of rain.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

This will be an intimate adult reception. The only children who will be present are in the wedding. Thank you for understanding!

Question

What are the current COVID restrictions in Vermont?

Answer

It is quite a crazy time we are living in. The COVID related restrictions are continuing to change and evolve. We will keep this website updated if anything should change related to COVID. You can find Vermont's most recent COVID precautions here. https://www.healthvermont.gov/response/coronavirus-covid-19/current-activity-vermont. Of course, we hope you can celebrate with us in person but your health and safety is the most important to us If you don't feel you can attend due to concerns related to COVID we completely understand and we just ask that you let us know as soon as reasonable.

Question

Are there other safety measures I can take related to COVID?

Answer

Vermont is actually very safe to visit as it has the lowest rate of COVID cases per capita in the entire country. For those traveling to Vermont from another state it is recommended that you self quarantine for 14 days prior to coming to Vermont. This will help us keep our numbers low. If traveling to Vermont, you should take your personal vehicle and limit the number of stops to essential stops only (restroom, gas). Matt & Colleen will both be getting tested for COVID and will self quarantine for 14 days prior to the wedding out of an abundance of caution.

Question

What precautions are being taken during the wedding to prevent the risk of COVID exposure?

Answer

All staff at Lareau Farm will be wearing masks for the duration of the event. Guests are not required to wear masks but disposable masks will be available for anyone who would like to wear them. There will be several hand sanitizing stations available. The venue can accommodate twice as many guests as we have invited. This will enable us to distance guest tables. We will attempt seat people based on where they traveled from. We will also do our best to accommodate any seating requests related to COVID. We are asking any guest who has COVID symptoms to stay home and take care of themselves!
