There are a two types of cabins at the site. There are smaller cabins that sleep 2-10 people. They are rustic and have screen windows so you can be closer to the outdoors. The only things inside are single beds and mattresses so you would need to bring your own linens. The second kind of cabins are bigger dormitory style rooms that sleep 26 for those that desire to sleep in a place with a few more amenities (heat and attached bathrooms). Again these larger cabins only have single beds inside. Tent camping is not allowed on our campsite though there are other areas in the park (not part of the wedding site) that allow this.
There are bathrooms and showers on site. The showers were built for kids so the shower heads are at adult chest level but are otherwise fully functional.
We're getting married in a campsite so the ground will be uneven and maybe a bit dirty/muddy. Formal attire is not required. Feel free to dress in whatever makes you comfortable (this is what we're calling "dressy casual"). For example, a dress shirt and khakis, or a summer dress would be lovely. It will be June in Virginia so it could be quite hot. It also could be chilly at night so layers may be best. We can't predict the weather that well but these guys are pretty good at it: https://weather.com/weather/today/l/USVA0774:1:US.
Sadly no because the park does not allow dogs to visit. Lolly will be at home celebrating from afar. Or more likley sleeping through the whole thing from afar.
We've been told cell service can be spotty but NPS's website says it works in most places in the park.
Prince William Forest Park is located approx 30 miles (depending on traffic this could be anywhere from a 45 minute to hour plus car trip) south of Washington, D.C. on I-95 exit 150. Cabin Camp 5 aka Happyland (where the actual wedding is happening) is located on Route 619 (Joplin Road) approximately 4 miles from I-95. Take a right onto Mawavi Road, and follow the left fork of the road. GPS Address: 17425 Mawavi Rd. Triangle, VA 22172. We'd recommend taking a car (your own/Uber/Lyft/a friends) but will give major bonus points to anyone who arrives parachuting from a plane or riding a bear.
DC has two great airports. Washington National (DCA) is closer to DC so if you're planning on site seeing this could be a good option. Dulles (IAD) is larger so there may be more fight options.
