How We Met

"What are you doing dork?"

In the year 2010, Alyssa fell asleep on a kitchen floor at 12:15 AM. An hour passes by and she wakes up to nothing but laughter, and as she opens her eyes, she sees feet right where her head was. As she starts to look up, she hears, "What are you doing dork?" She catches eyes with the bluest of them all, and after that moment of impact, the rest was history. For years, Devin would constantly reach out to Alyssa and Alyssa would do the same. It wasn’t until Alyssa finally turned 18 where it became a turning point in their relationship. On February 2nd, 2013, Devin popped the question of, "Will you be my girlfriend?" and without hesitation, Alyssa said yes! After five years of getting comfortable as ever with each other, something happened. On December 23rd, 2017 Alyssa and Devin's lives changed forever. On that cold December Saturday afternoon, they were celebrating, what was thought to be Alyssa's college graduation lunch, and the Lighthouse restaurant (Alyssa and Devin's first date location). As everyone was going around toasting to me graduating, Devin finally spoke up. As soon as Devin began to speak, his voice started to break and Alyssa started to catch a glimpse of what was about to happen. Once again, Devin popped the most important question of his life, "Alyssa Marie Matson, will you marry me?" For the second time, Alyssa did not hesitate to say, "YES!" Which, now, brings us to where we are today!

Alyssa's Favorite Story/Memory with Devin

Love at first....sneak out?

For many years, nine to be exact, I have been able to create and experience so many things in life with my best friend. Over the past nine years, it's hard to pick out one very specific memory with Devin that I cherish the most. Devin is one of those people who thinks he has to do the absolute most to impress me or to make me happy, but little does he know that it's the little things that still puts butterflies in my stomach. Before I was able to drive & LEGALLY able to date Devin (go ahead and make your jokes groomsmen), I would always sneak out of my bedroom window to hang out with Devin. I would get that anxious/excited feeling whenever I received that, "I'm right outside," text. We would sit in his truck for hours, and most nights I wouldn't climb back into my room until 4 in the morning. I also loved the nights that we would sit on the phone for hours, and when I say hours, I mean that Lisa was not happy with her phone bill. We would talk about our favorite X Factor contestant, play 20 questions which in reality turned into 100 questions, and soon find out that we were more alike than what we thought. The other day, I was nagging at Devin to get rid of the clothes he didn't wear anymore. I pull out this purple plaid shirt and said, "You haven't worn this in years, throw it out!" and he told me no because that was the shirt he wore when he first met my parents. It's all of these little things put together that creates my favorite things with Devin, but I think the best part of our relationship that I remember most are those days where we talk about our next chapter in life over a morning cup of coffee, those moments where we will just goof around and laugh at the dumb things that we do, the nights where we are spontaneous and get drunk during the weekday. These moments are very special to me, because it's not like I see these moments with my fiance, I see these moments being spent with my best friend. Moments I'll cherish forever and that make us who we are.
