we’re getting married

The Place: Kung Fu We were both out celebrating with friends at the hot, new Kung Fu Saloon. We saw each other from across the crowded bar earlier in the night. Because of that, they had “rapport” and worked out in Maddie’s favor because she needed a drink and Joe had a prime spot at the bar. She went up and worked her charm - even mentioned “I’d love you more than anyone else here right now if you could get me a beer.” In which Joe replied - “like this” with a Miller Lite. Maddie said some sort of long-winded thank you and turned around and went back to her group. Joe didn’t let her get away that easy and came over to officially introduce himself and get those digits. Maddie thought it was funny to call him Moe when he clearly said Joe was his name. He asked for her number and they eventually ran into each other again that night and I believe there was a steak dinner promised as a date.

He actually texted the next day after meeting at the bar. We met for drinks at 308 Bar in East Nashville, and talked over a few old fashioneds. It went so well we moved the party to get a slice at 5 Points Pizza. When we were walking over to the restaurant, Joe pulled Maddie in for our first kiss. What's funny now is that this was down the street where we first lived together. After our first date, Joe texted “looking forward to our next adventure.” It was history from there.

The Place: Narrows of the Harpeth The night before Joe made surprise reservation under the disguise of celebrating her birthday at one of her favorite restaurants Folk. Joe suggested that since the weather was so nice should go for a hike early in the morning and he had a place in mind and wanted to keep it a secret. We hiked up the trail, Maddie still had no idea. Once we got to the overlook Joe asked Maddie to get her phone to take a picture. When she turned around he was down on one knee. The only thing she could get out was "Are you serious?" And of course, the answer was a HELL YES! The best surprise and moment to date. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
