There is no UBER or Lyft and no sidewalks, so Taxi or Rental Car are going to be your options for getting around! RENTAL CARS: ***IMPORTANT: April tends to be a busier month since that is when Carnival happens in St. Thomas. Rental Cars will be less available. If you are thinking of renting a car, PLEASE make a reservation before your trip! It is unlikely that there will be anything available same day as your landing.. We drive on the left side here in the Virgin Islands. It can be daunting at first, but makes sense. We recommend renting a Jeep (or something with higher clearance if possible). Be sure to rent a car well in advance, as supplies are usually limited. You'll hear lots of horns, some friendly some not so friendly, don't be afraid to use yours. Google Maps has come a long way since we moved here, it can help you get to certain places. Taxis are usually readily available but costs can add up as they charge per person.

There are a ton of privately-owned condos and houses for rent here. We do recommend renting a car if you opt for this. Some key areas that are really great to stay around St. Thomas: Point Pleasant Secret Harbor Cowpet Elysian Sapphire Beach Pavilions and Pools East End Southside Regatta Point Villas Peterborg - this neighborhood has a ton of amazing villas. If you can get a group together, we highly recommend this option! Places to avoid (for our wedding itinerary purposes): Smith Bay Bovoni West End Northside--this is a really awesome area of the island but is pretty far from everything else. Maybe next vacation here after you're aquainted with the island. Windward Passage
