John Boyd Thacher State Park
Thacher State Park is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
Indian Ladder Farms Cidery and Brewery
Indian Ladder Farms Cidery and Brewery is located on Indian Ladder Farms, a popular apple orchard and farm market located in Altamont, New York. ILFCB produces hard cider and beer using crops such as apples, pears, berries and pumpkins as well as hops and malting barley grown on Indian Ladder and other local farms. ILFCB’s on-farm tasting room is open to the public for beer and hard cider by the glass as well as growler-fills, crowlers, and 4-packs.
Thompson's Lake State Park Campground
Thompson's Lake Campground, nestled in the mountains just four miles from the Helderberg Escarpment, is a popular camping ground and recreation area. Conveniently located within Thacher State Park, this campground offers 140 wooded campsites and is comprised of a sandy beach, mixed hardwood and conifer forests, limestone outcroppings and open fields. Recreational opportunities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a playing field, swingsets, carry-in boat access, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, fishing areas, and nature trails.
E.N. Huyck Preserve
The Huyck Preserve offers 12 miles of trails for hiking (skiing and snowshoeing seasonally). The trails are open dawn til dusk year round for public use, giving hikers access to over 2000 acres of forest, field, and wetlands, including the Rensselaerville Falls, which cascade over 120 feet. Lake Myosotis is open to the public for kayaking and canoeing as well as fishing (year round).

Helderberg Brewery is a NYS Farm Brewery and tap room on the beautiful, 100-acre estate of the Carey Institute for Global Good in historic Rensselaerville, NY. We source nearly 100% of our hops and grain from local farms.
