It would be hard to pin the exact date that Zechariah and Mary met, as that day occurred decades ago, and no one at the time knew it would be significant. Mary’s mother recalls the occasion though. She was holding her newborn, Mary, in her arms at church, while a toddling Zechariah played nearby. She was making casual small talk with Zech’s mother, and the interaction seemed at the time, insignificant. Throughout the following years, they would grow up in close proximity to each other, as a lifelong friendship developed between their older siblings. However, direct interaction between the two would be scarce, and they would grow to know each other’s family much better than they knew one another. Just shy of 2 decades after their initial meeting, Mary’s family planned an annual trip to Sonoma, to which Mary’s older sister would invite Zech’s older brother and his family to attend. Zech, at the time newly out of the Marines and staying with his brother, would be invited to join as well. Mary and Zech found a connection from the very first day of that trip, and have been nearly inseparable ever since. Months later they would move to Chico together, where Zech would attend the police academy and go on to become a Sheriffs Deputy, and Mary would begin working in Project Management. Almost exactly three years after that first fateful trip they took together, Zech dropped to one knee and asked Mary to marry him in the home that they had shared for the last two years. They are now excited to be planning their wedding, and want you to be there as witness when they promise each other forever.
