It all began in October 2019, at a Halloween date function for Mary’s sorority at Florida State University. Mary chose Tibet from a few photos her friend showed her, not knowing that one simple decision would lead to the love of her life. They showed up to the party dressed as a basketball player and a referee. The function was held at Clyde’s and Costello’s, a favorite FSU bar, where, to Mary’s surprise, Tibet happened to be a bartender. Not just any bartender, though, he was the bartender. The life of the bar. He went on to make sure Mary and her friends were treated like royalty for the remainder of their college years. Just two weeks after they met, Mary and Tibet decided to go to EDC Music Festival in Orlando together. That weekend, they fell in love, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. As their relationship grew, they became deeply involved in each other’s lives, embracing each other’s friends and families. After graduation, they moved in together in September 2022, settling into their first apartment in Pompano Beach, FL. Not long after, they welcomed Luna, their beloved Shepherd-Husky mix dog, who quickly became the center of their world. A year later, they made a new home in Fort Lauderdale. In August 2024, Tibet brought Mary and her family to Turkey to meet his relatives. While on a yacht in the Bosphorus Strait, with the Çırağan Palace as their backdrop, he proposed to Mary in a beautiful moment surrounded by their closest family. With Mary’s Greek roots and Tibet’s Turkish heritage, they chose to celebrate their wedding in Greece, bringing their families and cultures together in a place close to both their hearts.
