Unofficially, we first crossed paths at work. We were both working through the annual education fair in September. He tried cheating off of me for an answer and I got it wrong (what can we say, we make a great team)! We parted ways, he thought she was cute and I assumed he was too cute to be single. A few months later, a mutual friend thought we should make it offical and so both agreed to a date. The original first date was supposed to be at the SSI Christmas party, so I bought a short, sparkly, gold dress in preparation. Unfortantely though, Mark couldn’t get off work that night! Thankfully, the next opportunity arose less than a month later. It quickly became apparent that we had the same values and beliefs and it didn’t hurt that he’s super cute too! We hit it off and the rest is history!
After a lovely dinner downtown Charleston, Mark took me to the Waterfront Park...one of our first frequent post-date spots with gorgeous views of Charleston and Cooper River. We began discussing our future so we sat down on a bench for an intense discussion. For guidance we bowed our heads to pray to God, with Mark standing over me and his hands on her shoulders. By the end of the prayer, Mark was down on one knee and placing a ring on my finger!
