FAQs

Question

Are There Any Travel Restrictions to Germany?

Answer

There are no travel restrictions for US citizens, however, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PASSPORT IS VALID. Your passport MUST be valid for 6 months PAST the date of your travel (i.e. must not expire before March 2027)

Question

Where Should I Fly Into?

Answer

We recommend flying into the Frankfurt airport (FRA). There is then a direct train from the airport to Bacharach Hbf (Train: RE 2) that takes ~53 minutes. Once in Bacharach there is a regional train that can be ridden two stops to Trechtingshausen (Train: RB26). The Trechtingshausen station sits within walking distance of Burg Reichenstein.

Question

Where Should I Stay?

Answer

We recommend staying in Bacharach. It's a quaint German town where the Welcome Event will be held the night before the wedding (9/2/2026). There are many hotels and accommodations to choose from. We have included a few of our favorites in the Travel tab.

Question

When Should I Arrive?

Answer

To acclimate to the time difference and allow ample time to explore the area, we recommend flying in the weekend before the wedding. We plan on organizing activities for the 2-3 days leading up to the wedding to show our guests our favorite things to do in the area. However, if your schedule does not allow for an extended trip, please plan to arrive prior to the Welcome Event 9/2/2026.

Question

How Should I Get Around?

Answer

There is a direct train from the Frankfurt airport to Bacharach Hbf (Train: RE 2) that takes ~53 minutes. Once in Bacharach there is a regional train that can be ridden two stops to Trechtingshausen (Train: RB26). The Trechtingshausen station sits within walking distance of Burg Reichenstein. If you are unable to take the train on the day of the wedding, we will be coordinating with the venue to have Taxis available to take you to and from for destinations. Should you wish to rent a car - please review the German traffic laws on this website: https://www.wanderingermany.com/germany-driving-guide-and-german-driving-rules/ Parking is challenging in Germany, especially in older towns, so please plan ahead if you would like to rent a car.
