Travel Note
Traveling to Mackinac Island
Mackinac Island is only accessible by ferry—no cars are allowed on the island! You'll park your car on the mainland (in either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace) and take a ferry over. The ferrys run all day and take about 15-20 minutes to reach the island. Once you're on the island, everything is walkable or reachable by bike or horse-drawn carriage. Please find ferry ticket details below.
Flight
Flying into Michigan
There are many options if you are planning to fly into Michigan. Detroit and Grand Rapids are the largest airports and are both located about 4 hours south of Mackinaw City. Traverse City is a smaller airport, but is located about 2.5-3 hours from Mackinaw City. Pellston airport is very small, but located about 20 minutes from Mackinaw City. Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City airports all have rental car availability. Pellston has a direct shuttle to Mackinaw City, only a 20 minute ride (reservation required).

Travel Note
Mainland Stays...
If you're planning on staying off island, there are many hotels within walking distance of the ferry docks. The first ferry of the day departs at 7:30am, and the last one leaves the island at 10:00pm. If you choose to stay on the mainland, please plan to leave the reception by 9:30pm at the latest to catch the final ferry.

You're more than welcome to stay wherever you choose on the island - there are many great choices! If you do not choose the Chippewa Hotel or the Lilac Tree, a few other recommendations are listed below. - Iriquois Hotel - Mission Point Resort - Lakeview Hotel - Windemere Hotel - Harbor View Inn - We do not recommend staying at Stonecliff, as it is very far from all of the weekend events.
