La Antigua Guatemala is a majestic early colonial city, surrounded by volcanoes and boasting the remnants of beautiful Spanish Baroque style architecture that was destroyed in a series of 16th century earthquakes. 

Antigua is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular tourist destination, where people travel from all over the world to view what has been preserved of the "ruins" of the old colonial structures.
