Marty and Kathleen *love* the Newport Flower Show. The flower show is held at Rosecliff (one of the Newport Mansions) every spring. The mansion is decked out with flowers and visitors can sip on champagne, have some ice cream, or enjoy a Del's Lemonade (our favorite Rhode Island treat!) while exploring the property. The flower show runs Friday through Sunday this year - check it out while you are in town!
Check out this local coffee shop! It’s close to the venue and has some of the best coffee around!
One of Kathleen and Marty's favorite places in Newport! You don't have to buy anything to go check out the view at Castle Hill. Their Adirondack chairs on the lawn are open to the public. BUT if you're going you should definitely try the vodka blueberry lemonade and their version of a Paloma. Kathleen and Marty try to visit Castle Hill at least once when they're in Newport.
Be sure to visit "downtown" Bristol! Grab a bite to eat at Aiden's Pub or the Bristol Oyster Bar. If you're looking for something a bit more formal, Roberto's is delicious! Kathleen and Marty had a few dates at the restaurant (they recommend the special and the pinot noir). A GREAT breakfast or lunch spot is the Beehive. It is adorable and the food is to die for. Drive (or walk) through Colt State Park. You can't beat the views! Linden Place is a fun tour and Blithewold is gorgeous.
Where it all began! Visit Roger Williams University, where Kathleen and Marty met and spent three years of their lives together. Take a walk along the shell path down by the water and take in the view of the Mount Hope Bridge.
Please, please, please book a harbor cruise! The best way to see Newport is on the water. Bowen's Wharf has great shops, restaurants, and a variety of boat tours/cruises. Kathleen and Marty often go out on the Adirondack II and the Rum Runner. (Boats do book up on nice days)
Looking for live music on the water? Find it at The Landing. Great spot to grab a quick bite to eat during the day or enjoy a lively night out.
There are so many mansions to visit in Newport, but this is the biggest of them all! Kathleen and Marty recommend visiting a few (Rosecliff and Marblehouse are other great options) but The Breakers can't be beat!
Kathleen and Marty love wine! Check out this local vineyard while you're in town. (Kathleen favors the red wines here, while Marty likes the sweeter white wines).
Try a mudslide.
Looking for something to do Saturday morning? Check out this fantastic farmers market! So many local goods and food from local farmers and makers. PLUS... goats! There are multiple walking trails on the grounds that are beautiful and go all the way to Mount Hope Bay.
