We’re getting married!

Kathleen and Marty met at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. Both Kathleen and Marty were on the executive board for the college radio station, WQRI. While Kathleen was music director, the system crashed and left the radio station with no music. Kathleen and Marty spent many hours together uploading music and bringing the station back to life with their friends. After a few weeks, Marty asked Kathleen to “a concert.” As a college sophomore, he worked with what he had: he set up two desk chairs on a blanket in his dorm room, put up some string lights, and popped the "Dave Matthews Live In Concert" DVD into the player. It was a bit cheesy, but Kathleen admired his creativity. The next semester, Kathleen left to study abroad in Australia. They kept in touch and when she returned, they began dating. The rest is history...

Marty finished law school in 2018 and knew the time was right to pop the question. After 7 years of dating there was no doubt Kathleen was “the one.” Marty decided to propose in Newport, R.I. at Castle Hill Inn during their trip in July 2019. BUT... Kathleen figured out the plan. Marty knew he had to change his plan up so he could surprise her. There was no way he was letting her produce her own proposal! He decided to jump on to an existing reservation for Mother’s Day. Their families were having brunch together at Granite Links in Quincy. The meal was delicious, but Marty couldn't eat. He was so nervous! After dessert the family went to take pictures in the foyer. After a few group photos, Marty and Kathleen took one together. Marty got down on one knee and Kathleen was shocked! She thought he was trying to be funny at first and told him to stop, but then she realized it was for real. Of course she said YES!
