After taking a few months off of dating and moving to Michigan, Kate decided to try the dating app Bumble. David wasn’t fond of dating apps, but since the pandemic squelched so many social opportunities, he was willing to give Bumble a try. They “matched” and didn’t realize that the algorithm only allowed couples within a 100-mile radius to pop up for the other’s viewing… even while at his lake house, which is closer to Holland than Detroit, they were still almost 150 miles apart! They never should have matched! So whether it’s Jesus or faulty technology, they did! Kate noticed his sincerity, David appreciated her honesty. They texted and called and decided to go on a date. He brought flowers, they had an amazing dinner & watermelon margaritas over the water, took a long walk even though Kate was wearing incredibly painful new shoes … and at the end of evening, she kissed him! They live on opposite sides of the mitten, so this past year has included loads of video chats and miles on the road. Their time together on the weekends is precious and soon they won’t have to say “goodbye” … what a joy that will be!
