August in Slovakia is generally warm, sunny, and sometimes hot. It is one of the hottest months of the year for Slovakia, but also prone to short, intense thunderstorms. Heat: Temperatures can occasionally exceed 30°C (86°F), making for hot, sunny days— light layers are recommended.

We recommend arriving by August 6th or early August 7th so you have time to settle in and join the welcome celebration. Of course this is not required, and you can come whenever you like! If you like to come earlier, Slovakia is a gorgeous place to visit!
The closest airport is Košice International Airport, located about 15 minutes from the city center and about 10 minutes to Košice Hotel. A taxi typically costs around 5 Euros from the airport to the hotel.
To all Košice Hotel guests a bus will be provided to and from all venues the entire weekend. I would recommend a car rental for outside excursions of the wedding festivities, as its the easiest form of transport. Including: On August 8, 2026 - A 12:30 PM departure from Košice Hotel to St. Elisabeth’s Cathedral - After reception shuttle bus to accommodation near MEA Grati for reception (Tokaj region) - Shuttle bus from hotel to the reception at MEA Grati (Tokaj region) - Late night shuttle services from MEA Grati back to the Tokaj accommodation throughout the wedding night Also includes August 9, 2026 -Evening shuttle bus back from MEA Grati Farewell Party to Košice Hotel

Many of you already know as the wedding is a black tie event... I prefer to call it Sunday Best for the Ceremony at the Cathedral and Sleek and Comfortable for the reception in the vineyard. What does that mean you say? For Men: Anything from a tux to a suit maybe a nice light jacket and a polished tie, bow-tie and extra points for suspenders! The point is look nice for mass and comfortable as it might be a bit hot. For Women: Please you can leave you extravagant gowns at home this time. For this "black tie" event please come to the cathedral in a long appropriate dress. As it will be hot maybe a flowy summer dress. At the reception you can keep your church attire or go a little more sassy but as always classy 😉 I hope this helps!
