Hoping for an early spring...this is the place to be in Ann Arbor if you love flowers! Peak peony bloom at the Arboretum can typically fall any time between late May to mid-June. The University of Michigan Nichols Arboretum Peony Garden presents a stunning spring display, currently with 350 historic herbaceous varieties (cultivars) from the nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century. These specimens represent many of the important American, Canadian, and European herbaceous peonies of the era - and over half are no longer commercially available. The bloom calendar countdown can be found here! : https://peony.mbgna.umich.edu/peony-bloom-countdown
One of the finest university art museums in the country (we are biased...but seriously). Admission is free, $10 suggested donation. As for the art itself, according to the museum's website: "UMMA’s collections are particularly strong in European art of the Renaissance period to the 19th century, Chinese and Japanese art from antiquity to the 19th century, African art of the 19th and 20th centuries, and American art from the 19th century to the present. Works by Whistler and Picasso, Chinese and Japanese paintings and ceramics, and sculpture from central Africa are among the finest in North America." Check it out!
