Given the increased availability of COVID vaccines and the data now available regarding the reduced rates of asymptomatic COVID transmission amongst vaccinated individuals, we have been able to modify our COVID precautions. We will now be requesting a COVID test only if a guest is attending the reception and will not be fully vaccinated by the wedding date. More details are listed on our COVID Precautions page.

As you know, we were originally scheduled to get married in 2020, but given the extenuating circumstances with the COVID pandemic, we moved our wedding date from May 29,2020 to May 28,2021. State regulations still limit the size of our event, so this has necessitated re-planning in regards to our event size and locations. Thank you for your patience and understanding with all the changes!

We met at a ballroom dance lesson. Martin had been dancing with the Ballroom Dance Team at UM for about a year and a half at that point, and had volunteered to help lead some of the newcomers during a Saturday lesson. Kristen was new to ballroom dancing and had come to explore it. After the lesson, we kept talking and even then the chemistry was clear. We became friends as we began to study, dance, and spend time together outside the classroom. We began dating by May of 2011 and the rest is history!

We met during Martin's junior year and during Kristen's freshman year of college. We were both in Ann Arbor until Kristen graduated in 2014, at which point Kristen moved to Cadillac, Michigan to work for the USDA on soil conservation and pollution prevention projects. Martin started medical school at the University of Michigan in 2013, so he remained in Ann Arbor until he graduated with his doctorate and master's degree from the University of Michigan in 2018. All in all, we were in a long distance relationship for four years. While it was a challenge, we both feel that it only made our relationship stronger! We moved back in together when we moved to Chicago in June 2018. Martin moved to start his internal medicine residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago; Kristen moved to start a position with Carnow, Conibear, and Assoc., to work as an environmental consultant, guiding real estate companies in re-developing properties for new uses.
