Important information for non-EU citizens:

American citizens must have an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their American driver's license to be able to rent a car in most EU countries including Slovakia and some nearby countries (Poland, Austria, Hungary, etc.). I learned this by accident in Poland and was lucky Martina had her EU license with her or we would have been stranded. The IDP is easy and relatively quick to get at a local AAA and just involves filling out forms and a small fee. The closest international airport to Liesek, Slovakia is Krakow, Poland (KRK) which is approximately 1.5 hours away by car. Major international airports nearby are listed below including approximate drive time to Liesek, if interested in visiting other areas in Europe during the trip. Note for US citizens: A current valid passport is needed to enter the EU from the US. Please check that there will be at least 3 months left before the passport expiry date after the trip is over or entry to the EU could be denied. Passport renewal can take up to 9 weeks so please keep an eye on the expiry date. No visa is required for less than 90 days in the EU. We would recommend our guests to stay in this hotel for our wedding as we have arranged a Friday Welcome Dinner at the hotel for all traveling guests and the bus for wedding venue will leave from here. About the hotel: Unfortunately the hotel has issues with the booking system when using the website from outside of Europe. We have met with the hotel in person and reserved the whole hotel; it is a smallish hotel but will have enough capacity for everyone. If you decide to stay here please let us know and we can make a reservation for you and apply the discount for the wedding, so it will be slightly less than on the website. The hotel provides different room options from a standard double bed room to multiple beds in a suite. You can also request an extra pullout bed in the rooms as well. The price range varies based on room size but it is around 130 euro per night which includes breakfast and access to saunas, pool, and wellness area and a welcome drink. To add a pull out bed is 40 euro per night. The hotel will eventually contact you with all the details about payment and any other questions you might have.

Penzión Skorušina is another hotel option and is 2 kilometers from the other hotel and is a bit smaller. The bus will stop here as well for the transportation to and from the wedding venue and it has saunas and wellness center too.
