Things To Do

Paso Robles

Paso Robles

Paso Robles, CA 93446

Jeff's hometown! We recommend staying in the Paso Robles area due to its vicinity to the venue and abundance of shops and restaurants! The heart of Paso Robles is the area surrounding the Downtown City Park. Be sure to check out Spearhead Coffee for coffee and pastries, Jeffry's Wine Country BBQ (the photo in the header) for delicious local BBQ, The Backyard on Thirteenth for drinks at an outside patio, and General Store Paso Robles for local goods. If you are staying at the hotel, be sure to check out nearby Joe's Place for a classic brunch and lunch menu.

Paso Robles Wine Country

Paso Robles Wine Country

The Paso Robles area is known for it's wineries and gorgeous vineyards! We would recommend tasting at Rava Wines for a gorgeous vineyard site with well-loved champagnes, Thacher Winery & Vineyard for Kentucky county charm and light reds, Tablas Creek Vineyard for award-winning sustainable reds and whites, or Halter Ranch for a full vineyard experience (including a wine cave tour) with great reds and whites. Please reach out to Jeff for personalized winery recommendations if you are interested! For those interested in tasting the local cider and beer, we would recommend checking out Tin City. Tin City is a a full neighborhood of breweries, cideries, and winery tasting rooms. We would recommend stopping by Tin City Cider or BarrelHouse Brewing Co, as well as Etto Pasta Bar for some delicious Italian food!

San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo, CA

The city that we met in while attending Cal Poly! SLO has a special place in both of our hearts. SLO is famous for its charming college-town vibe. We would recommend exploring the shops and restaurants downtown along Higuera Street, stopping by Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa (where both of our parents got married!), or taking a walk along San Luis Obispo Creek. We would recommend eating at Giuseppe's Cucina Rustica for tasty Italian food, Luna Red for cocktails and small bites with a view of the Mission, or either Old SLO BBQ Co or Firestone Grill for Santa Maria Style BBQ sandwiches. Outside of downtown, stop by High Street Deli or Lincoln Deli for delicious sandwiches! SLO has a wide variety of hiking options, including the iconic Bishop Peak, Madonna Mountain (Cerro San Luis), Reservoir Canyon, and Poly Canyon. Ask Meghan for more personalized recommendations as well!

Montaña de Oro State Park

Montaña de Oro State Park

3550 Pecho Valley Road, Los Osos, CA 93402

One of our favorite places on the Central Coast! MDO is a gorgeous 50 minute drive from Paso Robles. We had our first date here (way back in 2016) and got engaged here in December 2023. We would recommend checking out Hazard Canyon for a beautiful viewpoint of the coastline. There are a lot of gorgeous hike options as well!

Morro Bay

Morro Bay

Morro Bay, CA 93442

Morro Bay was a popular spot for us to visit while attending Cal Poly. Morro Bay is a 35 minute drive from Paso Robles, and along the way to Montaña de Oro State Park! Morro Rock (the heart of Morro Bay) is unmissable, and the sand dunes to the north provide a gorgeous viewpoint! Stop by Taco Temple for large portions, Mexican-style seafood. Walk along Embarcadero for saltwater taffy stores, fish markets, and more. Kayaks are available to rent if you want to explore the Bay to the west of Embarcadero by the water!

Big Sur (Highway 1)

Big Sur (Highway 1)

CA

If you are willing to take a farther drive, Big Sur is one of the most beautiful areas in California! Currently Highway 1 is closed just north of Kirk Creek Campground (with the road reopening date TBD), but this still allows for a two hour drive along the coast from Paso Robles for a day trip! We would recommend checking out Salmon Creek Falls for a short rock-scramble waterfall hike, the Pacific Valley Bluff Trailhead for a hike with coastal views, the Elephant Seal Vista Point for up-close views of the Elephant Seals, Hearst Castle if you want to take a guided tour of the spectacular castle designed by famous architect Julia Morgan, or the town of Harmony (population of 18) for ice cream and a glassworks + pottery studio.

For all the days along the way
