Wedding Party

Meet our wedding party. We are very lucky to have these amazing people stand next to us on our special day.

Maricela Zabala

Matron of Honor

“Soon after coming into this world I met Marta. We are only friends because we are sisters otherwise I probably would’ve thought she was weird. Over the years we have bonded over the Donut Man, Xena Warrior Princess, Selena, Veggie Tales, Willow and youtube influencers.”

Ian Roos

Best Man

"I truthfully just got lucky. Our mothers were friends so Darris and I were always together. I don't really know how far back it goes, but my first memories of playing as a kid include running around my childhood home with Darris. We really haven't be apart since then. We stayed close our entire lives and despite never going to the same school I was always with Darris on the weekends. This started in elementary school and continued through college. Darris has always been there for me. Despite the rest of life moving, Darris is always constant. I have had the joy of having a stable friend that I can come to my issues with or just grab a beer with. Our friendship has grown around involvement in each other's lives and he has always been there for me."

Heidi Howe

Matron of Honor

“Once upon a time there were two women who attended Hessel Church. Both women were pregnant and they became friends. Little did they know their daughters would become best friends. The two girls were born two months apart. Heidi was bald while Marta was graced with a flowing head of thick hair. They had countless sleepovers, played doggie and horsey, climbed trees, jumped on the trampoline, watched Anne of Green Gables and made tamales. They attended the same high school. They ate lunch together, talked about their crushes, and learning to drive. Friends came and went but the their friendship remained strong. They attended different colleges and settled in very different towns. It was hard to be far apart but their friendship continued to grow as they kept in touch with calls and visits.”

David Bishel

Groomsman

"Brother of the groom. Little brother of the groom. In fact, I was the little brother of all little brothers, so it's a wonder we even like each other. And now, I'm thrilled to expand my role and become a little brother to Marta too."

Janice Lal

Bridesmaid

“The way I met Marta is a story we talk about and laugh almost every time we see each other! We met because we both were interested in the same guy! Drama. Except there was barely any drama. We both realized pretty quickly and simultaneously that the guy didn't matter, but the new friend we found in each other was quality. From then on, we've had almost 10 years of friendship that has stood the test of time, location, and some bad friend choices on my end (sorry I made you go thru that one Marta lol). She had and still has a beautiful heart that you can't help but love. I'm so grateful for the coincidence that became such a wonderful gift, my wonderful close friend. Love you.”

Matt Beaman

Groomsman

“Darris and I met in 2011. At the time, he was mid-animorph. Somewhere between lion and human. He’s mostly human now. Love, Matt"

Allysen Mefford

Bridesmaid

“My introduction to Marta’s life was firstly through meeting Darris. I thought he was someone who had an amazing sense of humor, a warm heart, and someone I’d be lucky to be friends with. When I heard I’d get to meet his girlfriend I knew she’d be a woman who is beautiful, special, and the life of the party. Marta embodies all those qualities and more! Upon meeting Marta I knew she was a charismatic and remarkable woman. Her sparkling personality and great sense of humor always make me feel like I have a friend for now and forever. She always brings a smile to my face with her charming wit and impressive dance moves! I am so lucky and honored to be her friend and bridesmaid. Her friendship has been truly inspiring, and I am excited to celebrate my beautiful friend and bride to be!”

Brandon McMillan

Groomsman

Mallory Roos

Bridesmaid

"When I found out Darris was dating Marta I was very excited to meet her because I knew we would hit it off! Darris and I clicked so I expected that to be the same with Marta - and sure enough it was! Marta has the most happy and bubbly personality that transfers to everyone around her. It was like we had known each other forever even though we had just met. Since our significant others are best friends it is that much better that we were able to become so close. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend!" Love you sister wife!

James Duffy

Groomsman

"Chased Darris down on my bike. 🚴‍♂️"

Mary Rowan

Bridesmaid

"My favorite memories of Marta always involve long conversations. There have been many occasions over the past couple of years where we will find ourselves talking for hours at a coffee shop or standing outside of my apartment. Marta makes you feel like you are the only person in the room when you are talking to her. Her joyful personality is infectious. Love you, Marta!"

Aaron Sarina

Groomsman

"My favorite memory of Darris is when he had his luscious and beautiful dreads. My one regret in life is that I didn’t know him before he got rid of them. RIP dreads. I believe I speak for everyone when I say we all miss them dearly."

Tirzah Bishel

Bridesmaid

Lorenzo Garcia

Groomsman

"I first met Darris when I was working at La Mo, a local coffee shop. He was a regular there and we would talk often. After a while he took the plunge and got hired. We bonded over coffee, one thing led to another, and soon we moved in together. The last 3 years Darris has been my roommate and I will never ever forget those times. The hours and hours of watching him play ps4. There has been so many memories that I will always hold dearly."

Tyler Renslow

Groomsman

"The first time I laid eyes on Darris was at a poker game. I didn’t know anybody and had just moved to Turlock. I sat somewhere next to Darris, and that was that. Fast forward two weeks and Darris is interviewing me for a job at the coffee shop he worked at. I remember thinking the interview was as easy as chatting with a friend. I got the job. A week or so later I was tasked with riding to Sacramento with Darris to pick up an espresso machine. We talked, listened to music, and laughed a lot. Darris took me to my first ever Chick-fil-A and introduced me to Neutral Milk Hotel. Before picking up the machine we drank like 3 cups of nitro cold brew and freaked out. It was a real solid hang. A few months later we were roommates. And that’s how it all went down."
