Our Story

The Start: In HS history class, Caitlin asked Greg if her referee costume could pass as a Zebra so she could get extra credit. The two would joke and chat during this class and first started to like each other. High School: One day Cailtin’s car keys became stuck in a tree just out of her reach. Coincidentally, Greg was walking by and was asked if he could get her keys (Caitlin will never admit to intentionally throwing her keys into the tree). On February 1, 2013 Greg asked Caitlin to a movie. After using Caitlin’s jacket to very smoothly put his arm around her in the theater the two became a couple. She wore his football jersey and cheered him on at games. He cheered for her at swim meets and water polo games. Other milestones, Homecoming, Junior Prom, Senior Ball were attended together. College: Greg attended USNA and Caitlin attended CU Boulder for college. After leaving early for plebe summer, Greg was without a phone. For 50 days they communicated with old-fashioned letters (Caitlin’s handwritten novels were often too heavy for just one stamp). The next 4 years included many plane rides, video-chat movie dates, and surprise visits. Distance was tough, but they made it in the year book as part of the 2% club (high school relationships that survive 4 years of USNA). Post Graduate: Greg attended medical school at the USU in Bethesda. The two moved in together and Greg found out how many clothes Caitlin actually had. During the next 3 years Caitlin attended Texas A&M online for her MBA and the two continued to build their life together. The two made lifelong friendships and even got Camo, a four-legged, furry child. Proposal: Greg surprised Caitlin with an afternoon trip to the Lincoln Memorial. It was here in front of the reflection pool where Greg (finally - after 8 years) got down on one knee and proposed. What’s Next: The couple will move to San Antonio for Greg’s neurosurgery residency. They will continue their adventure and see what life brings.
