Why so far away, right?! We recognize the sacrifice friends and family will have to make to attend our wedding in a different country, but we hope you will be able to make it. We decided to get married in Guatemala for many reasons, one of which is that Hannah was born in Guatemala and lived there for several years before coming to the US, and much of her family still lives there. It has been a dream of Hannah’s to follow in her parent’s footsteps and get married in the same town, Antigua. Most importantly, we want to share this beautiful country and culture with you while we celebrate our marriage. We realize not everyone will be able to attend. It is most important to us that we will get to celebrate with everyone, which is why we will also be having a reception in the US the summer of 2025. We hope that you will be able to celebrate with us in Antigua... or the US!
You will need a passport to travel to Guatemala, but no visa is required.
No. In fact, it is recommended that you do not rent a car. Arrange transportation from the airport to Antigua (refer to Travel section). Antigua is a small city where you can walk everywhere you want to go, or take a tuk-tuk (google it!) Transportation to the wedding venue will be provided. Refer to the Travel section.
We recommend speaking to your cell phone service provider to inquire about their international options.
The app "WhatsApp" allows you to text and call through the internet when connected to Wi-Fi. Most places will offer Wi-Fi connectivity.
It is: Quetzal [KET] + [SAL]. The exchange rate is approximately Q7.50 - Q7.70 = $1. We recommend using ATMs in Antigua to get cash. If you want to bring backup cash, bring pristine US$ bills (no ink marks, tears, or big creases).
