For our out-of-town guests, either of Chicago’s major airports (O’Hare and Midway) provide convenient access to the city through the Blue Line “L” service (O’Hare) and the Orange Line “L” service (Midway). Additionally, there are numerous taxi/rideshare (including Uber and Lyft) and car rental options available from either airport.
We have room blocks reserved at the Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Downtown/Loop and The Midland Hotel, Chicago, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Both are located downtown. The Residence Inn has more consistently high reviews, and The Midland Hotel has a more competitive price. Once you know you’re coming, we recommend reserving a hotel room as soon as possible, as August is a busy time for travel in Chicago. Our hotel blocks are limited, but can expand if guests book early and rooms are available. There are many other hotel and rental options in and around Chicago! Even if you’re not staying at one of the hotels listed on our website, you can still use the shuttle; just meet at the hotel lobby at the TBD time.
We love the CTA! Chicago has a great train and bus system. Logistics for using Chicago public transit are available at this link: https://www.transitchicago.com/howto/
Make sure to check your hotel’s parking rates and policies. There are private parking lots and garages downtown that may be cheaper than hotel lots. The wedding venue has limited parking, so we recommend using the shuttle or a rideshare/ taxi if possible.
The wedding venue (South Shore Cultural Center) is about a 30 minute drive from the hotels we have blocked. We will be arranging a shuttle service to bring guests to and from the wedding from these hotels. Details TBD!
Yes, children are welcome. However, we know weddings aren’t always the most fun places for kiddos, so we have a list of trusted babysitters from Michaela’s graduate program if you’d like to hire someone to watch your child(ren) at your hotel during the wedding. You’ll be able to request this list when you RSVP and contact them to set up rates and logistics.
Please wear cocktail attire: We recommend a suit or blazer and dress pants in any color, or a cocktail dress or jumpsuit.
Please check your RSVP page on the website to see who we’ve accounted for at the wedding. If you notice any mistakes or oversights, please reach out to Chris or Michaela.
Please email marrychrismicks@gmail.com or text Chris or Michaela.
