We are so excited you are coming to our wedding! If you’re traveling from out of town, we highly recommend flying into the Kona international airport and booking within our hotel block at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa for the most seamless experience and the best available rate (see link to room block below). This is also the designated pickup location for the wedding shuttle; however, we’ve included additional lodging options below for your consideration. We STRONGLY recommend renting a car or having someone in your party reserve one. Although rideshare services like Lyft and Uber are available on the island, there are very few drivers, so they can be unreliable and expensive. Additionally, destinations across the island are quite spread out (as noted in the Things to Do section).

Flight

Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole

The Big Island has two main airports: KOA (Kona International Airport) and ITO (Hilo International Airport). We recommend flying into KOA rather than ITO, as it’s much closer to your accommodations if you’re booking a hotel in the hotel block or near Waikoloa, Waimea, or Kona. Hilo (ITO) also tends to have fewer direct flights from the Mainland. For reference, KOA is about 30 minutes from Waikoloa and 50 minutes from Puakea Ranch (the wedding location). ITO, on the other hand, is about 1 hour 40 minutes from Waikoloa and 1 hour 30 minutes from Puakea Ranch.

Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is a beautiful newly renovated oceanfront resort situated on the sunny Kohala Coast of the Big Island. Offering a slightly more affordable option compared to other resorts in Waikoloa, Jackson and Sam have stayed here and love its convenient location and great amenities. The hotel is about a 35-minute drive to Puakea Ranch, and we’ll be providing a shuttle pick-up and drop-off for your convenience on the wedding day. The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort

For a premium resort experience, we recommend the Westin Hapuna or Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. These sister properties are newly renovated and located on some of the island’s best beaches, with nightly rates ranging from $650–$1,000. Please note that we do not have a wedding room block at either property, and the wedding shuttle will pick up at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, so guests staying elsewhere will need to arrange their own transportation to the shuttle pickup point.

Vrbo / Airbnbs in Waikoloa village and surrounding areas

If you’re traveling with a larger group (4+ people), we recommend booking a VRBO or Airbnb, as the cost per person is often more affordable. There are many great condos located on resort properties or in Waikoloa Village that offer a comfortable, home-like stay. These options tend to book quickly, so we suggest reserving early for the best locations. Please note that the wedding shuttle will pick up at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, so guests staying elsewhere will need to arrange their own transportation to the shuttle pickup point.
