Question

Anything we should be considerate of when visiting Hawaii?

Answer

As you may know, we’re passionate about traveling responsibly and respecting the culture of beautiful places like Hawaii. We wanted to share some tips we found along the way during our research. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated by kama'aina! (locals!) ∙ Tipping is critical especially for housekeepers, drivers, tour guides, servers, and other low-wage workers ∙ Don't touch or crowd sea life. ∙ Bring a plastic bag to pick up trash on the beach and around town. ∙ If you want to see the views, pull over instead of slowing down traffic. ∙ Only hike on marked trails for your own safety and to protect the environment. ∙ Try to support local and small businesses when dining and shopping. With the rising cost of living in Hawaii, homelessness and hunger are both rising issues on the islands. An easy way to give back is giving back to local organizations like Ka Hale A Ke Ola (https://www.khako.org/ways-to-give/). Mahalo!
