Although Austin and Emma officially started dating in January 2019, their paths had been crossing for years without either of them realizing it. In 2008, Austin’s dad, Todd, was Emma’s assistant coach in Emma's AYSO team. Fast forward to 2016, and they even shared a Spanish class, sitting just a few desks apart. They even grew up within .8 miles of each other, but never really connected. Austin had a secret crush on Emma throughout high school, often confiding in their mutual friend, Leni. But Emma, a year older, was busy with life, a typical teenage girl, and honestly never took much notice of Austin, a guy who never spoke to her. After graduating high school, Emma went on to Glendale Community College, focused on transferring to a UC, and was enjoying her life at home in La Crescenta. Meanwhile, Austin finished up his last year of high school and then attended CBU, in Riverside. One night in 2018, Emma was having dinner with Leni, who brought up Austin. Emma, amused by the long-standing crush, decided to send Austin a bold Instagram DM that simply said, “Hey, are we going on a date or what?” Austin, in true fashion, freaked out in a Chick-fil-A, showed his friends, took a lap around the restaurant, and replied. And just like that, their journey began. From crossing paths in the background to becoming the center of each other’s worlds, their love story truly began in 2018. Now, after 7 years, they’re ready to say “I do” and start the next chapter together.
