Cute winery with a little village of shops on-site. A nice place to get a glass of wine and walk around the property. Tastings include a chocolate pairing from the chocolate shop!
Speckle Rock Vineyards
A great winery with a view, but without some of the pretentiousness of other wineries in the area. Good vibes and good wine.
¡SALUD! Barrio Logan
Mexican style street tacos in the more authentic Barrio Logan neighborhood. Expect loud music, low rider cars, and a fast moving line.
Ocean Beach
This beach area is full of locals and hippies. Two main strips have lots of great restaurants and breweries to check out for a day by the beach. Top Recommendations: Kilowatt Brewing, Belching Beaver Brewing, Mike's Taco Shop, Wonderland Bar & Grill
Encinitas
Beach town further North in San Diego. Well maintained beaches, beautiful overlooks, and great restaurants and bars along the main street. You'll see more families, a few surfers, but no hippies here. Recommendations: Eve, Plumeria, Moonlight State Beach overlook, Le Papagayo, Mr. Moto's Pizza
Del Mar
Upper class beach town in Northern San Diego. Expensive shops and nice restaurants, beautiful parks overlooking the beach, and priceless sunset views. Recommendations: Get a sandwich at Board and Brew and bring it to Seagrove Park to enjoy the views with lunch, Dinner at Beeside Balcony to watch the sunset
Green Flash Brewing
One of many breweries in the Mira Mesa, Miramar area. This one has great beer, a nice outdoor patio, and usually has a food truck outside to get food.
Little Italy
A charming neighborhood in downtown San Diego, Little Italy is full of great restaurants both Italian and others. Recommendations: Italian food - Civico 1845, Ramen - Underbelly or Yasai (vegan), Japanese Fusion - Cloak and Petal, Upscale American - Kettner Exchange, Brunch - Cafe Gratitude (vegan) or Morning Glory (long waits)
Lake Poway
Beautiful park and lake with hiking trails. The famous "potato chip rock" hike starts here, but be prepared for no shade over the course of the 10 mile hike. You can also take a shorter path along the lake for nice views without the challenge.
Better Buzz Coffee Encinitas
There are Better Buzz's all over San Diego, it's a local coffee shop here. Highly recommend stopping in if you pass one and need a coffee! They also have good casual food for breakfast
Raised by Wolves
Speakeasy behind a whiskey shop in the upscale La Jolla shopping district. We recommend calling for a reservation in advance if you have a group larger than 2-4. The Island Old Fashioned is delish!
