Grab your sense of humor because this is one heck of a proposal! Bob wanted to propose to Rose on her birthday while on vacation in Punta Cana with his brother, Steve. After a short stay in California for Rose’s, best friend’s wedding (where she ended up catching the bouquet 😉) he packed the ring he’d picked out, his clothes, his new and oh so popular(but thoroughly hated by Rose) lobster flip flops that he named “flobsters” 🙄 and they set off to the Dominican. They arrived a few days before Rose’s birthday and started enjoying paradise! Let’s preface this by stating Bob isn’t much of a planner. He tends to be spontaneous (something Rose loves about him 99% of the time). That first evening Bob and Steve were having drinks at the lobby bar while Rose relaxed in the room. Bob texted Rose to come down and have a drink. When Rose got there she was less than thrilled to see a tipsy Bob in very close conversation with a woman and her friends. Bob, knowing Rose all too well, could immediately identify the dog house he’d found himself in. With no other way to explain that his conversation with the women around him was about getting tips for how to propose, he decided right now was as good a time as any! He excused himself and ran up to their room to get the ring. Just as Rose was wondering where he’d gone she turned around to find Bob down on one knee. It was a busy resort bar and there was little chance she would have heard a word he said, but later found he had attempted to learn to ask “will you marry me” in Spanish… even though Rose doesn’t speak Spanish and wouldn’t have known what he said anyways! Rose thought it was a prank and all she could do was laugh nervously but soon realized what was actually happening and said yes! Yes to her goofy, a little less than classy🤭, kind, funny, loving guy she wants nothing more than to spend the rest of her life with! Everyone cheered and the ladies came over with champagne to celebrate with Rose, see her ring, and take their pictures. Pictures that later when Rose and Bob were scrolling through, reliving the moment, she realized that she was proposed to in the damn flobsters! It was not the proposal Bob initially had in mind, or even one Rose expected but It was perfectly imperfect and pretty darn funny to look back on. The rest of the vacation was spent celebrating! Well here’s the short and sweet of it. A long time ago, through circumstances involving their unfaithful partners, Bob reached out to Rose on Facebook. After lots of conversations and supporting each other through breakups, a long distance friendship blossomed. Three years later they decided to finally meet in person and see if there was more to it! It was the week of July 4th. They had their first few dates that week. They dated long distance until the fall of 2019 when Rose relocated to Pittsburgh and they settled into their first home together. They fell in love and everything else just fell into place!
