We met when the student organisation AIESEC sent us to Ostrava for an outgoing preparation seminar for our internships. Petr had just finished his master's and was preparing to leave for an IT internship in Canada, while Markéta was heading to the eastern part of Romania to volunteer with high school students. That night, we drank absinthe on Stodolní, sang some karaoke, and shared our excitement about the future—we didn’t speak to each other again for 5 years. | Seznámili jsme se, když nás studentská organizace AIESEC poslala do Ostravy na přípravný seminář před našimi stážemi. Petr právě dokončil magisterské studium a chystal se na IT stáž do Kanady, zatímco Markéta mířila na východ Rumunska, kde měla dobrovolničit se středoškoláky. Ten večer jsme na Stodolní pili absint, zpívali karaoke a sdíleli nadšení z našich plánů do budoucna – a pak jsme spolu dalších pět let vůbec nemluvili.

After 5 years, our journeys and shared passion for traveling had taken us across the globe. In 2019, Markéta was spending her final semester of her master’s program in Bali, working at a coworking space for digital nomads. Out of the blue, Petr started a conversation on Instagram with, "Hey, long time no see. Do you know where the stable wifi is in Bali?" And that’s how we reconnected after all those years. However, it took at least another five months until we finally started dating—well, sort of. By early 2020, COVID hit and grounded us both. And that’s how we ended up living together in Prague. | Po 5 letech nás naše cesty a vášeň pro cestování zavedly po celém světě. V roce 2019 Markéta trávila poslední semestr svého magisterského studia na Bali a pracovala v coworkingovém centru pro digitální nomády. Zničehonic jí Petr napsal na Instagramu: „Ahoj, dlouho jsme se neviděli. Nevíš, kde je na Bali stabilní připojení k internetu?“ A tak jsme si po pěti letech zase začali psát. Trvalo to ale minimálně dalších pět měsíců, než jsme spolu konečně začali chodit – no, tak nějak. Začátkem roku 2020 totiž přišel COVID, a tak jsme oba zůstali uvěznění. A tak jsme spolu vlastně začali žít v Praze.

Looks like 5 is our number. After 5 years of living and traveling together, our journey has taken us not only to living in Prague and struggling through Covid, but we took every chance to travel even more. We've traveled the world, spent a year and a half in Dublin, drinking a lot of Guinness, and crossed the globe multiple times. Petr even got back to his pre-Covid flight numbers of 50+ flights a year. Last year, Petr proposed in the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. Despite Marketa's best efforts to sabotage the moment, she agreed to marry him. And that brings us here. At the end of April, it will be 5 years since we started dating, and we would love to celebrate this occasion with all of you. | Vypadá to, že 5 je naše číslo. Po 5 letech společného života a cestování nás naše cesta zavedla nejen do Prahy, kde jsme se potýkali s Covidem, ale také jsme využili každou příležitost a začali cestovat ještě víc. Procestovali jsme svět, strávili rok a půl v Dublinu, kde jsme pili spoustu Guinnessu, a několikrát jsme objeli svět. Petr dokonce dosáhl svých předcovidových čísel, kdy létal více než 50krát za rok. Minulý rok Petr požádal o ruku v nejjižnějším městě na světě, v Ushuaia. I přes Markétiny snahy o sabotáž tohoto okamžiku, souhlasila, že si ho vezme. A to nás přivádí sem. Na konci dubna to bude 5 let, co jsme spolu začali chodit, a rádi bychom tuto příležitost oslavili se všemi vámi.
