Chris Berger

Best Man

Although we didn’t go to the same University, we were womb-mates from the very beginning. Mark and I spent a lot of quality time together growing up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From taking tennis and piano lessons together, to him helping me with my math homework due the night before, to covering me as I put out flames from a Molotov cocktail I threw in our cul-de-sac; he’s been there by my side from day one. And although he’s sharing his life with another special person, he’ll always be my brother. I’m proud to stand by his side on this very special day, and I send my warmest thoughts and wishes to both Mark and Stephanie. I’m excited for both of them and this next chapter in their life together.

Shannon Sheehan

Maid of Honor

I met Stephanie when I was searching for a college roommate. We ended up living together for the next 4 years, and thankfully we did, because we shared so many amazing times including joining KAΘ, countless sunrise hikes, donut runs, fun nights downtown, and our Cal Poly graduation day! When it finally came time to say bye to college, I was so sad because I knew Steph was going to miss coming home to me. But at least I left knowing Stephanie would have Mark, a close second best option. I am so thankful to know these two good hearted, fun people who are family to me! I will always take credit for being the reason they found each other, despite the fact that I was actually in the UK at the time they met. I’m so happy that I will be by Steph’s side on the happiest day of Mark’s life!

Groomsman

Mark and I met on our first day at Cal Poly, nervously waiting outside our calculus class. I soon noticed him everywhere -- in my sociology class, playing basketball, and even at the dining hall by our dorms. After a few weeks of knowing him, I soon learned that I would never escape him! Ever since, we’ve been the best of friends and have embarked on some truly epic adventures, including music festivals, baseball games, and nights downtown. We also joined the same volunteering club in college, which is where we met Stephanie. I could see the attraction between the two of them from the very start. After several Bachelor & wine nights, they finally did the world a favor and began dating. I’m very glad that I’ve been able to witness their love blossom. They are truly perfect for each other!

Stephanie and I met at a bonfire the summer before we both started Cal Poly. It’s surprising we hadn’t run into each other before then, because we were attending high schools in the same city. We didn’t interact much freshman year, but I’m very thankful we both ended up rushing and joining Theta our second year. Through Theta and being part of the same friend group, Stephanie became one of my closest friends in college, and I will forever be grateful for our friendship! She’s an amazing human being who is always there for me, and I cannot wait to be part of her special day. Love you Steph!!!

Mark and I met early in undergrad and pretty quickly became friends after we realized we were both regulars on the basketball courts at the Cal Poly REC. From then on, we only further bonded over a burning passion for designing timber shear walls and dominating our competition on the hardwood (or so we’d like to think). Now, we live on opposite ends of the country, but our friendship, as well as our banter over who we think was the better ball player, persists. Needless to say, I miss having him around, so I’m honored to be a part of his wedding. I’m incredibly happy for both Mark and Stephanie, and I’m so excited to see the wonders their future holds. Cheers to both of you!

It all started with our destined hapa connection and a very boring psychology class. Stephanie and I met at Cal Poly during our freshmen year, and we discovered that we were both liberal studies majors studying to be teachers. We quickly made connections outside of our classes as well and continued to be great friends throughout college and into our teaching careers. One of my favorite memories with Stephanie and Mark were our game nights in which we would try our hand at poker. It’s safe to say that poker was not our strong suit, but we always had a blast. Cheers to Stephanie and Mark as they embark on their new adventure as a married couple!

Groomsman

I met Mark when he was a sophomore at Poly and I was starting my master’s in EE. I played basketball at the Rec Center with his roommates which became the focus of our bond; playing ball together with the “Other Guys," discussing his loyalty to the Lakers and mine to the Kings, and taking names on the court. I was introduced to Stephanie, the always-smiling girl who Mark was spending more and more time with. Mark stayed in SLO for his master’s and became one of my housemates. Our friendship blossomed. We had roommate dinners together, played pranks on each other, and hung out after class/work. Mark and Steph quickly became like family. Mark is one of the best roommates, and he is lucky to have Steph in his life. I am so happy for them and honored to be a part of their special day! <3

Bridesmaid

Steph and I met in 7th-grade math class and instantly became best friends after finding out we had the same middle name, give or take a letter. Stephanie Lynn and Erica Lyn's friendship continued throughout high school, where we experienced everything from choir camp and school dances to A Cappella trips and after-school boba runs. What I love most about our friendship is even after going to different colleges and living in different cities, it still feels like no time has passed whenever we see each other. We will always be those awkward middle schoolers giggling in the back of the class. I know that we will be friends forever, and I'm so excited for this new chapter in her life with Mark!

Bridesmaid

I met Stephanie through a volunteer event my Freshman year at Cal Poly! Little did I know on that day that she would end up being my “Big” sister in Theta and that would be the start of an amazing friendship! I’m so grateful for all of the good times and memories we’ve shared over the past couple of years. From movie nights to concerts to traveling Europe, I always know that we will have fun, and I am thankful that Cal Poly and Theta brought us together. Studies say that if a friendship lasts longer than 7 years, it will last a lifetime, and since we’re about to start year 7 I think it’s safe to say Stephanie will forever be a lifelong friend! Congrats to Stephanie and Mark - I can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Bridesmaid

It was my first day at Graham Middle School, and Stephanie and I met in our science class and instantly bonded. We spent time after school working on our marble science project and playing with her dogs. Our 8th grade friendship carried on throughout high school, where we would sit and eat our lunches together. It was always fun having a fellow hapa, and I fondly remember going over to her house during high school to make muddy-buddies and chocolate toffee squares. We’d visit each other during college breaks and tour our favorite spots for food and wine, and we still buy the same clothes in different colors. She is my oldest friend, the person that I talk to about the big moments in life, and we’ve truly seen each other through it all. It is such a joy to be able to see her marry Mark.
