You can easily spend a few hours or a full day in Grand Teton National Park while staying in Jackson. We are working on a list of our favorite places and hikes and will post here soon.
This is a trip best added before or after your stay in Jackson, although you could make it a (very long) day trip in a pinch. We strongly recommend spending at least 2 or 3 days in Yellowstone to have time to see most major sights. The south entrance is about 1.5 hours drive north of Jackson and it takes about 3 hours to drive to Old Faithful with minimal stops. There is a lot of road construction always happening in the park, so this can be longer depending on what’s happening the day you go.
Easy to access developed hot springs area. Reservations are highly recommended and you can see availability and book your soaking time online.
Our favorite for laid back, scenic rafting... perfect for families with small children or those who want a leisurely float down the Snake.
One of many excellent options if you are looking for a great scenic or whitewater rafting experience. Other options include Jackson Hole Whitewater, Barker-Ewing, Lewis and Clark, and Mad River.
Spring Creek Ranch offers guided horseback rides with great views of Jackson.
If you have some extra days in town, the village has activities for all levels of adventure. Our favorite - take the tram to the top for a waffle, the views, and/or a hike. Or plan a happy hour or dinner at the deck at Piste at the top of the Bridger gondola. If you are feeling ambitious, you can also hike up and ride the gondola back down.
One of our favorite restaurants, and also the place we got engaged!
Great spot for breakfast or lunch.
Can't miss having a drink and/or food here while in town. Also has live music.
Pretty sure they don't let visitors leave town without a stop at the Cowboy. Some nights are ticketed concerts, though, so check their schedule before you make plans!
