Formal attire ranges from gowns and tuxes to below-the-knee dresses and suits. It is a step up from cocktail attire. As an additional note, the ceremony will be in a Catholic church, so please dress appropriately. As a rule of thumb, ideally no knees are shown.
In an effort to create a more mature atmosphere and eliminate distractions, we will not be allowing kids to attend our wedding.
If you are not planning to drive or rent a car while in South Bend, there are a few different options for you. We encourage you to uber/lyft/taxi from the ceremony to the reception, but we will also have a shuttle for ~30 people doing rounds from the ceremony to the reception for those who are interested. The drive from the Basilica to Morris Park Country Club is a 10 minute drive.
Yes, there are parking lots at both. Although, for the ceremony, the Basilica is a 10-minute walk from the Morris Inn, and a 15-minute walk from both St. Mary's Inn and the Embassy Suites.
Because the ceremony is a Catholic mass, we request that this be an unplugged ceremony -- please put away and silence all devices. We have an amazing photographer who will be capturing moments from the ceremony that we will happily share after the day.
While most of the tourist attractions, such as the Golden Dome, Touchdown Jesus, and Notre Dame Stadium, are on the most beautiful campus in the world, University of Notre Dame, other places to explore include the Potawatomi Zoo, Howard Park (plus riverwalk), and the South Bend Cubs stadium. Some of our favorite dining spots are Ironhand, the Wine Bar, and the Lauber.
