How We Met

We met in 2008 at Lehman College, where we both worked at a tutoring service. Mark made the first move with an awkward hello but Camille respectfully (it wasn't respectful) blew him off. Our love story began in 2011 after we had gotten passed all the awkwardness of our initial meeting and got to know each other. We quickly became really good friends. For years we mocked and joked on each other. Everyday in the office was brighter because of our silly banter and competitions. We were quite happy with our friendship, but our mutual friend Maria had bigger ideas. One day Maria cornered Mark and Camille and asked if we liked each other. Nervously we both answered yes and Maria suggested that we should go out. Some time later in an underground tunnel at Lehman College Mark asked Camille to go bowling and Camille accepted. We were both nervous but soon realized that our connection was so natural we could just be ourselves and the rest is history!

The Proposal

The story begins months before Camille's birthday, on a sunny beach in the Caribbean. Camille had lost her necklace in the ocean and this necklace was the first gift Mark had ever given to her. This is when Mark began hinting that he would replace the necklace (Possibly on her birthday). When her birthday had arrived Mark and Camille went to see the Lion King play. After the play Mark suggested that they go to a park in City Island where they had spent many weekends together look out at the sea. But unfortunately, the park was closed for construction and it had started to rain heavily. So Mark found a quiet avenue where he could present Camille with her birthday gift in his car. Before giving Camille her gift, Mark played a video he had made which summarized all the adventures and fun times they had shared. At the end of the video Camille asked, "Mark are you going to propose to me? Because this would be a good time." to which he replied "Maybe.". Mark then presented Camille with a gift wrapped in a small box. Eagerly, Camille opened the box to find a necklace. The necklace was an exact copy of the one she lost at the beach. Camille's smile went from ear to ear. As she pulled the necklace out of the box to put it on her neck, she saw a ring hanging on the chain. In complete shock she looked at Mark with her mouth wide open for what seemed like an eternity. Mark then got out of the car in the pouring rain and walked to her side of the car. He opened her door and kneeled down in some muddy water on the sidewalk and with rain running down his face, he asked Camille to marry him.
