Nuestra historia no empezó con una chispa; empezó en los pasillos de Stefani, el edificio de Ingeniería. Nos conocimos en una clase de Algoritmos en tercer año de Ingeniería Mecánica en el Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez. Al principio, la cosa no pintaba muy de "cuento de hadas" que digamos. Steven vio a Marjorie, la jugadora de voleibol y la atleta popular, y pensó que era la típica creída que no iba a trabajar en los proyectos. Por su parte, Marjorie miró a Steven y juró que él era el tipo de estudiante que no le iba a pasar ni una asignación, ni aunque se lo rogara. Gracias a Dios, los dos estábamos bien equivocados... Pasamos el resto de los años en el Colegio siendo inseparables, tratando de que nos pusieran juntos en todos los proyectos de ingeniería y hasta sobreviviendo como compañeros de casa en Houston durante un internado de verano antes de graduarnos. Cuando llegó el 2018 y a ambos nos ofrecieron trabajo en Melbourne, Florida, decidimos mudarnos juntos, puramente por la "logística y la economía", por supuesto. Pero como dicen por ahí, las mejores cosas no se planifican. Para el 2019, nos dimos cuenta de que vivir juntos era tan natural y nos hacía tan felices, que tuvimos que aceptar lo que teníamos frente a nuestras narices: éramos mucho más que amigos. Ese mismo año empezamos a salir oficialmente y en el 2020 le dimos la bienvenida al corazón de nuestro hogar: nuestra "hija perruna", Milán. Nuestra familia, "pequeña pero poderosa", pasó su prueba de fuego en el 2021 cuando Steven se cruzó el charco hacia Europa para hacer su maestría. Estuvimos un año entero probando nuestra relación a larga distancia y lidiando con seis horas de diferencia, demostrando que no hay océano lo suficientemente ancho para separarnos. Cuando la carrera de Marjorie nos trajo a Ohio, Steven le siguió los pasos, y finalmente cambiamos el sol de la Florida por el frío y las temporadas del "Midwest" para empezar nuestro próximo capítulo. Desde los salones de Mayagüez hasta las calles de Europa y nuestra nueva vida en los Estados Unidos, hemos cultivado una comunidad de amigos y familia que se extiende por todo el mundo. ¡Estamos más que agradecidos por el camino que nos trajo hasta aquí y no podemos esperar a reunirlos a todos en nuestra Isla para celebrar donde todo comenzó!

Our story didn’t start with a spark; it started in the halls of Stefani, the Engineering Building. We first met in a third-year Algorithms course at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, while navigating the chaos of Mechanical Engineering. Our first impressions of each other weren't exactly "fairytale" material. Steven saw Marjorie, a volleyball player and the popular athlete, and assumed she was just a stuck-up student who wouldn't do any of the work. Marjorie took one look at Steven and figured he was the kind of student who would never, under any circumstances, share his homework. Thankfully, we were both very wrong... We spent the rest of our college years as inseparable friends, trying to get paired together for every engineering class project, even surviving a summer internship as roommates in the Houston heat before graduation. When 2018 rolled around and we both landed jobs in Melbourne, Florida, we decided to move together as roommates, purely for the sake of "practicality," of course. But as it turns out, the best things in life aren't always planned. By 2019, we realized that living together was so effortless and happy that we had to admit what was right in front of us: we were more than just friends. We officially started dating that year and in 2020 added the heart of our home to the mix, our fur baby, Milán. Our "small but mighty" family faced its true test in 2021 when Steven moved across the Atlantic to Europe for his Master’s. We spent a year mastering the art of long-distance and six-hour time differences, proving that no ocean was wide enough to pull us apart. When Marjorie’s career led us to Ohio, Steven followed, and we finally traded the Florida sun for the Midwest seasons to start our next chapter. From the classrooms of Mayagüez to the streets of Europe and our new life in the United States, we’ve built a community of friends and family that spans the globe. We are so incredibly grateful for the journey that brought us here, and we can’t wait to have everyone in our Island to celebrate where it all began! --------------
