Their tlayudas are delicious! We recommend the one with chupilines (crickets). They also have a great selection of mezcal. Mention to Mario (the owner) that we sent you and he will give you a 10% discount!
Great spot for brunch! Marissa particularly likes their extensive selection of teas.
Exactly what it sounds like- be sure to add the plate of oranges, chupilines & queso oaxaca to your mezcal order.
This ecological preserve and botanical garden—the largest of its kind in Mexico—is home to hundreds of rare and endangered species, cacti, and succulents. There are walking paths, temescals (steam baths), picnic areas, a cafe, a shop, a nursery, and a greenhouse. It's a long hike up from downtown, so consider getting a cab up and then walking down.
In 1902 this was a textile factory and some of the original industrial machinery has been left in the renovated Fábrica La Aurora, which reopened in 1990 with galleries, furniture, design stores, a bookstore, cafe, exhibition spaces, and studios for local artists. It's a great place to wander around, check out local art and be tempted to purchase some. If you're arriving to San Miguel early, the artist hold an open studios event on Thursdays.
Good spot for lunch- open air market with a bunch of options

Take a taxi, you can get one on any street and they are very inexpensive, it will be about 15 minutes to get there, you can then tell the driver to pick you up later at a certain time. The springs are also located on the way back to San Miguel should you decide to make a trip to Dolores Hidalgo or Atotonilco, mentioned below.
