"Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you" Of all the poorly timed songs in history, a song about marriage on the way to a surprise proposal has got to be close to the top of the list. Marissa and Tommy had taken their first plane ride of the COVID-19 pandemic to Boston for Labor Day Weekend 2020 and, unbeknownst to her, Tommy planned to propose to her while they were up there. They spent the day traversing the historic parts of Boston and Marissa never gave a second thought to ring that was burning a hole in Tommy's pocket. Though the dinner reservation was real, the necessity to dress nicely and walk the waterfront beforehand was a bit exaggerated; the pandemic had robbed Tommy of most reasonable excuses for the two to play dress-up; a fancy dinner was the only card to play. When Bruno Mars came on the radio in the Uber from the hotel to the Inner Harbor at Fan Pier Park, it never dawned on Marissa that Tommy might utter words similar to those just minutes later. Tommy, on the other hand, was sweating bullets trying to secretly text the photographer to solidify their meeting spot amongst the large crowd that gathered on such a beautiful evening. Tommy and Marissa walked along the water: Marissa looking for a picturesque background for a photo to put on Instagram; Tommy desperately searching for the photographer in a sea of unfamiliar faces. The two took some photos and saw some sights before Tommy finally located the photographer and dropped to his more functional knee to ask the most important question of his life... "Hey baby, do you think you wanna marry me?"
