How We Met

It started with $5 Publix sushi and a lapse in judgment. On September 1st, 2021, I showed up to my shift at Goofy’s Candy Company and when I went to break I ate sushi that I had left out for hours. I felt exactly as you'd expect. When I went to tell my supervisor, my world stopped. I looked at her and although she was wearing a mask I could see those big brown eyes and that long brown hair. My first words to my future wife were essentially an embarrassing retelling of how I was stupid enough to not put my sushi in the fridge. She looked at me with pure disgust and sent me home. Coming back from that took patience and a fair amount of delusional confidence. I spent the next few months finding every excuse to talk to her, building a friendship one small conversation at a time. It wasn’t a straight line she actually shot down my first invite to Halloween Horror Nights saying "if we're going in a group then maybe, but if it's just us then that would be inappropriate" Which then pushed back my plan to at least after my college program. I realized then that I needed to stop 'planning' and just start being her friend. In that shift, I really began to see who she was. As I started to get to know her, I realized that beautiful was not the only word to describe her. Every time I was at work and needed a problem solved, she showed how smart and resourceful she was. As we got to know each other more I was able to see how hard of a worker she was, working 50-60 hours a week to help support her family. While our friendship was blossoming I was able to experience how funny she was in a way that I felt many others don't get to see. From our little jokes while closing registers, to our long conversations to help us get through the day; there was never silence. One of the things that we love about each other, especially early on, is how easy it is to be together. Never a dull moment. That time actually getting to know her is one of my favorite parts about our relationship because that was when we really started to fall in love with each other. Eventually all that waiting paid off. A few months later she ended up asking me to hang out, and the rest is history.
