Kiran and Marissa met through Volo Sports, a company that hosts adult recreational leagues for a variety of sports. They played in the same kickball league, though they were on separate teams. While they never faced each other in a game, after each match, teams would head to a bar to play flip cup for an extra point. It was at Blake Street Tavern, by the water cooler, that Kiran and Marissa first spoke. Marissa was filling up water bottles for her team and jokingly warned Kiran that it might take a while. Kiran responded with a smile, "It’s okay, you’re like the team mom, and I’m like the team dad." They both laughed, and as Marissa started to walk away, hands full, Kiran asked for her number. After a few days of texting, Kiran mentioned that their conversations were getting so long that if they didn’t meet up soon, he’d need to start proofing them in Word. So, they finally planned their first date on June 29th, at Breckenridge Brewery. On their first date, they both convinced themselves that they weren’t hungry, only splitting two appetizers and having a few drinks. They talked for hours, until the brewery closed for the night. Several months later, after making their relationship official, they admitted that when they each left the brewery to go home, they were both starving. So, they both stopped for a late-night snack on the way back! Fast forward three years and they’re still going strong, celebrating their third dating anniversary with an engagement!
