Flight
We prefer to travel in and out of PDX, but Chehalis is equidistant between Seattle and Portland, so choose the airport that offers the best flights for you. Chehalis is a 1.5 hour drive from either airport. Renting a car will be your best option for getting around. You could also take Amtrak to the Centralia station (about 10 minutes from our house). It is possible to use Uber and Lyft once you're here, but expect a $60 ride and $20-30 minute wait each way from Millersylvania State Park to town. If you want to carpool with others we can put you in touch with other guests to coordinate this.
Hotel
This is where we would stay, but it isn't for everyone (no TV's and restrooms down the hall). It's a historic hotel in the center of Centralia, next to the Amtrak Station. It has a restaurant and bar downstairs as well as a cozy movie theatre where you can order food on velvet couches.
Hotel
This place is worth considering if you have kids. It's in between Chehalis and Millersylvania State Park and convenient to I-5.
Hotel
A reliable chain hotel, close to the freeway and in-between Chehalis and Millersylvania State Park. It shares a parking lot with Heritage Distilling and Talking Cedar. Talking Cedar is a brewery owned and operated by the Chehalis Indian Tribe. They serve breakfast and bar food. Marissa's favorite is their pimento grilled cheese. Their beer is really good!
Hotel
We've never stayed here, but it looks sweet and is in the center of Centralia. Downstairs it has Berryfields Cafe, The Branch, and an antique store!
Hotel
This is a unique glamping opportunity within Millersylvania State Park, where our picnic celebration on June 22nd is happening.
Travel Note
This is an example of what you can find in our area on AirBnB or VRBO. I'd look in Chehalis/Centralia. There are also some rural places in the countryside near the river and in the forests that are still close to us.
Travel Note
I hope someone stays here! It's near Millersylvania State Park.
Travel Note
For those who love the outdoors, you can book camp sites at Millersylvania State Park. Rainbow Falls State Park is also very close to us. It's a little less crowded and along the river rather than a lake.
Rental Car
This is a good option if you are taking Amtrak to Centralia. It's a 20 minute walk or short Uber Ride from the train station. Marissa rents cars from here for work all the time. You will want a car to get to the park if you don't have a carpool situation.
