We're getting married!

David and Marisol originally met when they were both at the youth group, Jovenes Por Jesus, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (OLMC). Ten years later, we find ourselves back at OLMC to celebrate their wedding. David y Marisol se conocieron originalmente cuando estaban en el grupo de jóvenes, Jóvenes Por Jesús, en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo (OLMC). Diez años después, volvemos a OLMC para celebrar su boda.

David and Marisol started dating in 2019 during each of their last years in college. It started with a full week of dates, every day of the week in January, while they were both on winter break. That came to a halt as David went back to Pomona to finish school. But they stayed in touch and after graduation came back to Fresno. And on June 30, 2019 David asked Marisol to be his girlfriend. They built the foundation of their relationship for the next year and a half. Then David had to move away to Tucson, AZ in January 2021. The next couple of years would consist of date nights over zoom, plenty of frequent flyer miles, many excited greetings at airports, and an equal amount of tearful send offs at those same airports (they never got easier). David y Marisol comenzaron a salir en 2019 durante el ultimo año de la universidad de cada uno. Comenzó con una semana completa de citas, todos los días de la semana de enero, mientras estaban de vacaciones de invierno. Eso se detuvo cuando David regresó a Pomona para terminar la escuela. Pero se mantuvieron en contacto y después de graduarse David regreso a Fresno. Y el 30 de Junio de 2019 David le pidió a Marisol que fuera su novia. Y empersaron a construir la base de su relación durante el próximo año y medio. Luego, David tuvo que mudarse a Tucson, AZ, en enero de 2021. Los siguientes años consistirían en varias citas a través de Zoom, muchas millas de viajero frecuente, muchos saludos emocionados en los aeropuertos y una cantidad igual de despedidas entre lágrimas en aeropuertos (nunca se hicieron más fácil).

By 2023, with the help and encouragement of Marisol, David had landed himself a job back in California and come April it was time to start getting ready to make the move. David asked Mari to go to Tucson to help him "pack" so that they could both drive to LA the following weekend. David managed to talk Mari into doing a "sunrise" picnic atop Mt. Lemmon because he had wanted to see the sunrise up there before leaving Tucson. So begrudgingly, Marisol agreed to pack a nice outfit for that, as well as a nice dinner outfit, because there was also a steakhouse that David "wanted to try before leaving Tucson". However, Marisol still showed up ready to pack, and on the evening of her arrival, made them both stay up until 11:30PM packing up some of David's things (they needed to be up at 3AM the following day to make the sunrise). This probably worked to David's advantage as his adrenaline was pumping while prepping the picnic, and Marisol was too tired to see through his little plan. Not long after arriving at the picnic spot David got down on one knee and asked Marisol to share the rest of her life with him. David logró convencer a Marisol a que lo acompañara a un picnic al "amanecer" encima del la montaña de Lemmon porque quería ver el amanecer allí antes de irse de Tucson. Así que, a regañadientes, Marisol accepto empacar un traje para eso, y un traje para cenar porque también había un restaurante que David "quería probar antes de irse de Tucson". Sin embargo, Marisol todavía llego lista para empacar, y la noche de su llegada, los hizo quedarse despiertos hasta las 11:30 p. m. empacando algunas de las cosas de David (tenían que levantarse a las 3 a. m. del día siguiente para ver el amanecer). With David back in California, not much time has been wasted. Instead of flights, now they can drive back and forth to see eachother. Marisol is now a pro at driving the grapevine, a task that once felt unnattainable. Over many trips back and forth they've worked to plan this big day and prepare eachother to faithfully pledge themeselves to one another, infront of God. This phase has not been much easier, but nothing worth doing ever is. There's still been date nights over zoom, and difficult send offs. But both will tell you it's all worth it. Con David de regreso en California, no se ha perdido mucho tiempo. En lugar de volar, ahora pueden manejar de un lado a otro para verse. Marisol ahora es una profesional en manejar a Los Angeles, una tarea que antes parecía inalcanzable. A lo largo de muchos viajes de ida y vuelta, han trabajado para planificar este gran día y prepararse mutuamente para comprometerse fielmente el uno con el otro, delante de Dios. Esta fase no ha sido mucho más fácil, pero nada que valga la pena hacer es facil. Todavía ha habido citas nocturnas por zoom y despedidas difíciles. Pero ambos te dirán que todo ha valido la pena.

So here we are, back at the root of this relationship. Back at the church that brought them together, but this time they're back with all the people that played a role in their lives and got them there. You! Thank you for being there, they can't wait to celebrate with each and every one of you! Así que aquí estamos, de vuelta a la raíz de esta relación.
