We spend a lot of time in the park and absolutely recommend it; at the very least a drive-through promises to deliver amazing views and probably some wildlife! Be warned that you will need to make an entry reservation (we recommend making this at least 2-3weeks in advance) and there is an entrance fee of $20 per vehicle, unless you already have a National Parks pass.
Right outside of Rocky Mountain National Park & home to the famous Stanley Hotel, Estes Park has tons of cute shops and family-fun activities like mini-golf, go-karts, and an aerial tramway!
Home to more than 20 breweries and several distilleries, Old Town Fort Collins boasts a unique collection of craft beer and spirits. Our personal favorites are The Barrel House at Jessup Farms if you're looking for a great beer, or Social - a speakeasy downtown with an extensive collection of cocktails!
Our favorite winery in the area, Sweetheart has a beautiful setting across from Devil's Backbone. Enjoy one of their flights while sitting along the Big Thompson River - you may even see some kayakers!
Cheyenne, WY is only 40 minutes north of us and home to some of the best rodeo in the West! If you want to see some real life cowboys - this is the place to go!
The Colorado Rockies are in town for our wedding weekend! Coors Field sits in the heart of downtown Denver & Rockies games are a ton of fun - you can great seats in the Rockpile for just $10!
About an hour south of us is Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater; definitely worth the drive if you're interested in music! Explore the museum, walk up and down the amphitheater, or take a walk along one of the many trails that wind throughout the property.
A pretty neat way to scale a 14er; the Mount Evans Scenic Byway climbs over 7,000 feet in its 28-mile length, reaching an altitude of 14,130' feet. Idaho Springs serves as the starting point to the byway, which is the highest paved road in North America! This drive offers visitors scenic views of the Continental Divide, mountain goat and bighorn sheep herds, marmots, birds and alpine wildflowers.
Three hours south of us, but well worth the drive. Garden of the Gods is right outside of Manitou Springs, CO - a cute town in it's own right - but the views and walking paths throughout this park cannot be beat.
Also in Manitou Springs, probably one of the most enjoyable ways to say you've scaled a 14er: The Cog has been climbing Pikes Peak since 1891. This 3.5 hour open-air train ride takes you up one of the Rocky's highest peaks!
