Mario has been one of those friends I could always have real deep conversations with no matter what was going on. Growing up he used to get on my nerves in the funniest ways, always joking around and pushing my buttons just enough to keep things interesting. We spent so many days outside playing basketball and sometimes staying out until midnight just enjoying the game and each other’s company. Even through all the jokes and competition, those moments built a strong friendship that I’ll always appreciate. Over time I’ve watched him grow into a man with character, purpose, and a strong faith in God. Seeing Mario grow closer towards the Lord these last few years has not only been a blessing for me to witness but also to the other people he interacts with. To know that he is prioritizing his relationship with God before anything else makes me fully confident that he will prioritize his wife and her relationship with the Lord as well. I see the Lord moving in Mario’s life and pray that he continues to step into the roles that God has for him. While I haven’t known him as long as others at the church I know what it takes to be a good husband and I see those qualities in Mario. As a husband and a father it makes me proud to see young men like Mario stepping up to the plate and fulfilling his duties as a Godly man. I will be praying that Mario continues perusing the Lord, in the bad times, and especially during the good times. If I had any encouraging words to offer it would be that in marriage it’s not just about you, it’s about sacrifice and dying to yourself. Be intentional and proactive, love your wife the way Christ loved the church. Lastly, the only expectation you should have is for God to show up, He is faithful to provide for your needs every single time.
