Visit Antigua Guatemala
Antigua Guatamala is known as the best-preserved Spanish colonial city in Central America. Stroll the cobblestone streets, lounge with the locals in Central Park on sunny afternoons or hike up one of the volcanoes overlooking the city for amazing views. Antigua Guatemala is ~1.5 hours away from Guatemala City.
Visit Lake Atitlán
Located in the department of Sololá, Lake Atitlán is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Guatemala, and was nominated as one of the seven wonders of the world. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and it is also conceived as one of the most unique places. Lake Atitlán offers a variety of activities including trips to the small but very unique villages that surround the lake, zip lines that oversee the lake, hiking, and kayaking. Lake Atitlán is approximately 3.5 hours away from Guatemala City and 2 hours away from Antigua Guatemala.
Visit Tikal
Tikal is one of Guatemala’s most visited destinations. Due to its mysterious atmosphere and amazing location in the dense jungle, it is one of the most impressive archaeological Maya sites. Tikal is 9-10 hours north of Guatemala City. To make the most out of your time, we recommend that you take a flight instead- Tag and Avianca airlines offer daily flights.
Visit Flores, Petén
If you visit Tikal, we also recommend you spend some time in Flores. Flores Island in Guatemala is located in Petén, one hour south of Tikal. It is surrounded by the third biggest lake in Guatemala, Lake Peten Itzá. The picturesque town of Flores Guatemala offers you the chance to enjoy stunning landscapes, cultural activities, plus, it is the gateway to most of the archaeological Mayan parks around the area. This quiet Island is one of the 25 most colorful places in the world. It hosts a big concentration of restaurants, cafés and pubs to keep you busy during your stay. Flores is the perfect place to relax for a couple of days, combining it with awesome things to do like exciting excursions to the Mayan Ruins.
